ASEH Conference 3 avril 2013

ASEH, "Confluences, Crossings, and Power"
Toronton, 3-6 April 2013

ASEH Conference
The Program Committee would like to extend a warm welcome to attendees of the 2013 meeting of American Society for Environmental History. We are pleased to be part of the first ASEH gathering convened outside of the United States in nearly a decade.  The conference theme “Confluences, Crossings and Power” captures the (second) nature of the host city, Toronto, as well as the flows and frictions associated with the expansion of environmental history and the dynamic world it seeks to interpret.

In addition to one hundred sessions covering a wide range of themes, places, and time periods, the 2013 conference features a plenary event focused on one of Canada’s most pressing and controversial environmental issues, the Alberta Oil Sands development.  In an effort to capture the multiple dimensions of the Oil Sands, we have organized a round table that features scholars with expertise in historical geography, sociology, cultural studies and film.
